A 3.6 magnitude earthquake was recorded Thursday morning in the foothills near San Jose, the U.S. Geological Survey said.

The quake, at 5:15 a.m., was centered on the north edge of Joseph Grant County Park and 5 miles east of the Alum Rock neighborhood.
