MOUNTAIN VIEW — An undivided council charged ahead on Tuesday with plans to set aside federal funds to help Santa Clara County purchase a boutique hotel to house homeless people in the city’s south side.

Tuesday’s unanimous council vote is another example of the widespread support to help the county buy the 61-room Crestview Boutique Hotel at the corner of El Camino Real and Crestview Drive. Officials hope the project will help deal with a homelessness crisis that the council has made one of its top priorities.
