BERKELEY — A buyer from the Midwest has swooped in to grab a choice downtown Berkeley property whose development was scuttled in 2020 after years of being mired in controversy.
The property, bounded by Allston Way, Harold Way, Kittredge Street, and Shattuck Avenue in downtown Berkeley, has a new owner after a developer for a controversial upgrade of the site gave up on the project. The developer wanted to build an 18-story tower with 300 residential units and new retail.
