The Santa Clara County Fair, which had a virtual version of its livestock exhibitions last year, has announced that this year’s fair in San Jose will be a drive-thru experience over two weekends this summer. So you can scratch square dancing, strolling through a reptile exhibit or getting spun around on a carnival ride for the time being.
The fair will run 4 p.m. to 11 p.m. July 29-Aug. 1 and then again Aug. 5-8 with the theme “California Experience,” and there’s really no experience more Californian — for better or worse — than driving a car. Expect to see displays that celebrate iconic places in the Golden State like the Redwoods, the Golden Gate Bridge, the San Diego Zoo, Disneyland and probably a few other places we haven’t really been able to visit the past year. Given the nighttime hours, there’ll surely be a strong lighting component, too.
