SANTA CLARA — A big Bay Area private equity investor has bought three office and research buildings in Santa Clara that sit on big enough parcels that they could be redeveloped as a large project.

GI Partners, an investment firm based in San Francisco, bought buildings at and near the corner of Bowers Avenue and Walsh Avenue in Santa Clara, according to property documents filed on March 2 in Santa Clara County.
