SAN JOSE — A development of hundreds of affordable houses could sprout in San Jose on the site of a popular but now permanently shuttered restaurant, according to very preliminary plans being considered at City Hall.

The proposed development would be 100% affordable and is slated for a site where a restaurant operated for more than two decades until coronavirus-spawned economic woes forced the seafood establishment out of business permanently.
