An Oakland woman has been charged in federal court for her role in a scheme to obtain illegally more than $4.5 million in pandemic relief funds, authorities said.

Christina Burden, 31, is charged with one count of committing bank fraud in June last year when she applied for and later received $684,375 in a forgivable loan from the government’s Payment Protection Program, U.S. Attorney David Anderson of the Northern District of California said in a statement. The loan went to Burden’s shell company “Blessing Box Co LLC,” Anderson said.
