OAKLAND — As the city grapples with illegal dumping of junk on streets, the waste management company that contracts with Oakland is expanding ways that repeople can remove large hauls of trash for free, with a new program launching next week.
Starting Nov. 15, all Oakland residents can schedule appointments to drop off big items they want to throw out for free at the Davis Street Resource Recovery Complex in San Leandro or to have Waste Management of Alameda County pick up big items headed for disposal — called “bulky pickups” — at the curbs near their homes.
