The East Bay barbecue community has lost another leader of the trailblazing Everett family.

Mary Everett, the longtime owner of the Berkeley location of Everett and Jones Barbecue, died at Oakland’s Kaiser Hospital on Sept. 25. She was 65 and died of complications related to COVID, according to a press release provided by the family.
