One of San Jose’s most popular attractions in recent years was “Sonic Runway,” the art installation where visitors could walk through a path of 25 sound-activated, illuminated arches in front of San Jose City Hall. Well, get your strutting shoes out of the closet because it’s coming back in November — and this time it’s staying for six years.

“Sonic Runway,” created by a team led by artists Rob Jensen and Warren Trezevant and designer Stockhausen, made its San Jose debut in late 2017 — the first installation of the city’s Playa to the Paseo initiative, a partnership with the Burning Man Foundation to showcase art created for the iconic desert festival. With light patterns pulsing through its 432-foot length along Santa Clara Street, the installation was the backdrop for concerts, fashion shows and a hard drive’s worth of selfies as visitors flocked to City Hall at night.
