SAN JOSE — An activist group has begun to raise warning signs that plans for an unprecedented burst of development in downtown San Jose could derail the future of a historic train station.

Diridon Station has become a magnet for an array of development gambits because the busy rail hub on the western edges of downtown San Jose offers a mass transit alternative to the Bay Area’s vehicle-choked roadways.
