Santa Clara County Supervisor Cindy Chavez is finally set to officially announce Thursday evening that she’s running for the job — a move that’s been considered a foregone conclusion for weeks.

Chavez said working through the COVID-19 pandemic for the past 19 months heavily influenced her decision to run in the June 7  primary, where she will face San Jose City Council members Dev Davis, Matt Mahan and Raul Peralez.
