SAN JOSE — A new law has cleared the way for San Jose State University to take ownership of the state building in downtown San Jose and convert the outmoded structure into badly needed school-serving housing.
Gov. Gavin Newsom has signed into law a bill that authorizes the state government to sell an array of surplus real estate, including the Alfred E. Alquist State Office Building at 100 Paseo de San Antonio in downtown San Jose.
