At least nine lightning strikes were confirmed Thursday night as a monsoon-type system rolled into the Bay Area.

As of 9:45 p.m., the National Weather Service had recorded eight cloud-to-ground strikes in Sonoma County and one in northeast Santa Clara County. Four of the strikes in Sonoma County occurred within the 2020 Glass Fire burn scar and the others east of Rohnert Park. The strike in Santa Clara County occurred in the middle of the 2020 SCU Lightning Complex burn scar, which the weather service called “good news.”
