More than 10,000 firefighters are battling 11 large fires in Northern California amid a red-flag warning, the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection said on Tuesday.

The teams are braced for increased spread of those fires and possible ignition of new ones because of the dry, windy weather forecast through Wednesday night.
