A structure fire in the foothills of Contra Costa County appears to have sparked a brush fire that initially spread quickly and has grown to roughly 10 acres, prompting evacuation warnings, officials said Saturday evening.

Chief Paige Meyer of the San Ramon Valley Fire Protection District said a residence in the area of 6600 Old School Road was “fully involved” with flames when fire crews arrived a little after 6:15 p.m. Saturday evening, and it spread to grasses in the area, prompting a larger firefighter response.
