Wildfires continue to roar across Northern California with unprecedented speed and intensity, forcing thousands of residents to flee their homes this week as the flames rapidly encroached on communities in more than seven counties.

Crews continued to battle the Dixie, Caldor, Cache, McFarland and Monument fires, and fire crews say they still have weeks worth of work to do until they’ve reached containment.
