SAN JOSE – A 13-year-old boy was shot and killed Wednesday afternoon in an apparent shootout in a neighborhood in the city’s Alum Rock area, authorities said.

The shooting was reported at 3:47 p.m. on the 2900 block of Little Wood Lane, according to the San Jose Police Department. The scene of the shooting is southwest of the intersection of North White Road and McKee Road.
