Katie Ledecky won the first-ever Olympic 1,500-meter freestyle and Erica Sullivan of Las Vegas took the silver on Tuesday night at the Tokyo Aquatics Center.

Ledecky, the Stanford star, rebounded from a fifth-place finish in the 200 meters an hour earlier. Ledecky won in a time of 15 minutes, 37.24 seconds, 4.07 seconds ahead of her teammate.
