As the second day of a weekend heat wave settles, forecasters are keeping an eye on the high-pressure ridge that was creating it and how thick it was getting.
The news for those expecting to be spared some of the heat wasn’t encouraging. High pressure above eastern Nevada will crank up the heat even more in the far interior portions of the state, including portions of the Bay Area, forecasters said. On Thursday, the heat did not break any records, but it did reach triple digits in Brentwood (100), Antioch (100) and Concord (100) in Contra Costa County. The thermometer reached 101 in Livermore, Alameda County’s hot spot.
