Unemployment claims in California fell slightly last week, the government reported Thursday — but stayed far above what they were during the healthy job market before coronavirus-linked shutdowns began 15 months ago.
California workers filed about 64,700 initial claims for unemployment benefits during the week ending on June 19, which was 3,300 fewer than the 68,000 claims workers filed in the week that ended on June 12, according to the U.S. Labor Department.
