SAN JOSE — A woman taking out the trash in front of her home was hit and killed by a garbage and recycling truck operator early Wednesday, according to San Jose police.

Officers were called at 7:45 a.m. to the 400 block of Fontanelle Court, off Coyote Road on the southeastern edge of the city, for a report that a person had been hit by the waste hauler, police said.
