A pedestrian died Saturday evening while crossing a street in San Jose, marking the latest such death in a string of traffic fatalities across city.

The man was struck around 7:40 p.m. Saturday by a Toyota SUV while he was walking across North Jackson Avenue near Mather Drive, on the city’s east side, according to the San Jose Police Department. Paramedics took him to a nearby hospital, where he died.
