SAN JOSE — Archer Aviation, which seeks to create a new generation of air taxis, has signed a rental agreement to shift its headquarters to San Jose in a big expansion.

Palo Alto-based Archer Aviation has agreed to sublease a big office building at 190 W. Tasman Drive in north San Jose, according to a company filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission.
