Amid a surge in COVID-19 cases fueled by the omicron variant, San Jose has adopted a new order requiring that visitors of large, indoor events at public facilities like the SAP Center and San Jose Convention Center show proof of a booster shot — or submit a negative COVID-19 test — before they enter.
But despite what may sound like a stricter coronavirus vaccination policy, the city’s new ordinance actually waters down its previous order, allowing people who are 12 or older and unvaccinated to enter city-owned facilities for the first time in nearly four months, so long as they show proof of a negative test.
