SAN JOSE — A residential tower that could be an eye-catching addition to downtown San Jose’s skyline would bring more than 300 homes to the hip and trendy SoFA neighborhood near Interstate 280, city files show.

The 29-story highrise would sprout at 605 S. Second St. in downtown San Jose, according to municipal planning documents.
