President Joe Biden told the nation Monday that the scary COVID-19 omicron variant will inevitably cross our borders but argued that his new travel restrictions from several African countries will buy time for more Americans to get the vaccines that remain the best known protection against the virus.

“Sooner or later, we’re going to see cases of this new variant here in the United States,” Biden said in a White House news briefing. “We’ll have to face this new threat, just as we faced those that have come before. … This variant is a cause for concern, not a cause for panic.”
