OAKLEY — The real estate agent had told Roland and Lois Wade the open fields opposite the Oakley home they were eyeing would be a wildlife refuge and that no homes would be built on that side of the street.

“(That’s) one of the reasons we bought the house,” Lois Wade said, noting that fewer houses along Monet Drive means less traffic. “It’s a very quiet street.”
