PALO ALTO — A stray balloon could be the culprit for a Sunday afternoon power outage that left over 2,500 customers without electricity.

Palo Alto Utilities officials reported shortly before 2 p.m. that crews were en route to restore power in the Barron Park neighborhood and surrounding area after a mylar balloon got caught on some power lines causing an outage.
