SAN JOSE — The union representing 3,000 nurses for Santa Clara County has reached a tentative contract deal with the county, less than a day after announcing nurses had authorized a future strike.

Nurses with the Registered Nurses Professional Association, which represents nurses across county clinics, jail facilities, Valley Medical Center, Saint Louise Hospital and O’Connor Hospital, will vote on whether to accept the deal between Jan. 3 and Jan. 12.
