As Facebook continues to deal with controversy over its political ad policy, and becomes more a force in the market for spending on online advertising, the company on Wednesday rolled out a set of new tools designed to give advertisers more control over the places where their ads appear on the social-media site.

Among the tools Facebook is introducing include a testing program for advertisers to set up so-called “white lists” of publishers where they want their ads to appear, and also select the kinds of content their ads show up on within in-stream video advertisements.
