John Donahoe, who has spent the better part of two decades in the Bay Area first as chief executive of eBay, and most recently as CEO of cloud-based business software developer ServiceNow, is heading north to take on the chief executive position at Nike.

Santa Clara-based ServiceNow said in a statement that Donahoe will be replaced as its CEO by Bill McDermott, who served as CEO of business-software company SAP from 2014 until this month. Donahoe will remain as ServiceNow’s CEO, and retain his seat on the company’s board of directors, until January 2020 when he takes on his new role at Beaverton,Oregon-based Nike.
