PALO ALTO – Police on Friday confirmed an investigation is underway into a report by Tesla that two former employees failed to return laptop computers after leaving the Palo Alto-based electric vehicle maker.

Tesla reported the theft of two laptops worth $2,260 on Sept. 26, according to Palo Alto police Sgt. John Alaniz.
