SAN JOSE — A suspect in a scooter robbery in East San Jose was found dead a short distance away mere minutes after the crime was reported early Tuesday, in what police are investigating as a suspicious death.

Officers had just handcuffed the adult male suspect, spotted lying on the ground after the reported victim pointed him out, when they realized the suspect was unresponsive, according to San Jose police.
