With tariffs on thousands of products imported from China set to go up in a matter of days, Chinese officials on Thursday suggested they want to resolve the dispute with the United States with a “calm attitude” about the matter.

Gao Feng, a spokesman for China’s Ministry of Commerce, said American and Chinese trade officials have kept up “effective communication” in an effort to bring an end to the trade war between their two nations.
