SAN JOSE – A man killed in a hit-and-run near San Jose State University last week has been identified by the Santa Clara County Medical Examiner-Coroner’s Office as Fernando Arturo Alvarez, 20, of Modesto.

About 2:45 a.m. Thursday, San Jose officers were dispatched to East Fernando and South Fourth streets for a report of a body in the roadway, according to Sgt. Enrique Garcia.
