A report that says Tesla CEO Elon Musk sought the advice of financier Jeffrey Epstein when searching for a new Tesla chairman last year has been roundly refuted by the electric carmaker.

In a statement given to this news organization, a spokesperson for Musk and Tesla said, “It is incorrect to say that Epstein ever advised Elon on anything.” In a column in the New York Times, writer James Stewart reported Epstein told him he had been advising Musk on the search for a new Tesla board chairman in 2018.
