SANTA CLARA — While the 49ers safely kept most of their top players out of Saturday night’s exhibition opener, three still got hurt in the opening quarter, and then news broke of a more significant injury.

Trent Taylor, one of the 49ers’ top wide receivers, underwent foot surgery Friday, general manager John Lynch revealed on KPIX’s television broadcast during the 49ers’ 17-9 win over the Dallas Cowboys.
