It might be a lot to call direcor Steven Spielberg an enemy of Netflix, but its easy to see where his loyalties lie.

Last week, Spielberg appeared on stage at Apple’s big services event to throw his support behind that company’s upcoming Apple TV+ streaming service, a service in which Netflix is not involved. And Spielberg, a member of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences board, is said to be leading a push to disqualify Netflix original movies from Oscar consideration. One of Spielberg’s arguments is that since Netflix is a streaming TV company, it’s movies should be up for TV’s Emmy Awards, and not Oscars.
