PG&E warned customers Saturday that a power shut off might be needed Tuesday and Wednesday due to a combination of high winds and extreme heat that could create further fire danger.
Called a “Public Safety Power Shutoff,” the potential for the shutoff is due to an offshore wind event expected late Monday night through Wednesday morning, the public utility announced Saturday afternoon. The conditions could require a power shut off since high temperatures, extreme dryness and record-high winds throughout the state could cause a spark — sparks that can lead to major wildfires.
