SCOTTS VALLEY – Containment of the CZU Lightning Complex Fire passed the halfway mark Thursday, according to the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection.

As of 6 p.m., the fire had consumed 86,102 acres, 635 more than the previous day, and was 51 percent contained, said Cal Fire Deputy Chief Jonathan Cox at a news conference in Scotts Valley.
