The Bay Area muscled up for a robust gain of 21,200 jobs during July, the state labor agency reported Friday, but the pace of the region’s rebound fell well short of the June gains, a side-effect of renewed business shutdowns by government officials to combat the coronavirus.
The pace of the July job gains in the Bay Area was only one-fifth what the employment boom the region generated during June, an ominous indicator that the region faces a tricky path to regaining all of the jobs that it lost due to business shutdowns that state and local government agencies ordered.
