A dark, gray overcast hung over the Bay Area again Tuesday, bringing with it to certain areas the unmistakable smell of campfire smoke that has been an unwanted visitor for nearly a week. By mid-afternoon, the Bay Area Air Quality Management District extended a Spare the Air alert through Friday.
