Job markets in metro regions that opened up their economies earlier in the wake of coronavirus-linked business shutdowns have bounced back more quickly than those that kept the clamps on their economies — but Silicon Valley, bolstered by its robust tech sector, bucked the trend.

It’s a list straight out of the Sun Belt and early reopenings of the economy: Phoenix; Dallas-Fort Worth; Tampa-St. Petersburg, Florida; Atlanta; Austin, Texas; Houston; and Miami-Fort Lauderdale were the seven top-ranked communities in terms of the pace at which they regained their lost jobs after the global economy tanked in March and April.
