A lightning-sparked fire in far northern California has grown to more than 45,000 acres, the Modoc National Forest reported on Monday morning.
The Caldwell Fire is part of the July Complex, a cluster of fires that ignited during a lightning storm on July 22. It is burning in Modoc and Siskiyou counties, in the area of Lava Beds National Monument and south of the town of Tulelake.
