As the coronavirus rages through California, Gov. Gavin Newsom on Monday implored state residents to take the pandemic seriously, as the daily average of related deaths has increased from 91 last week to 109, according to the governor.

“What more evidence do you need than that about how deadly this disease can be,” Newsom said. “Please, let’s wake up to that reality.”
