The Bay Area, an early leader in combating the spread of the coronavirus, passed another grim milestone on Friday, reporting more than 30,000 COVID-19 cases and 600 deaths since the start of the pandemic.
A worrisome increase in cases throughout California has prompted renewed restrictions on businesses and indoor gatherings at 30 counties on a state watchlist. San Francisco was added to the list Friday, leaving San Mateo County, which has allowed indoor dining, gyms and more since June, as the only Bay Area county not yet under additional state restrictions.
