SAN JOSE — Santa Clara County District Attorney Jeff Rosen is abandoning his pursuit of the death penalty in all cases his office prosecutes from now on, multiple sources have confirmed to this news organization.

The drastic shift in policy is sure to headline an upcoming Wednesday news conference in which Rosen is expected to announce an array of charging reforms that come amid a national criminal-justice reform movement galvanized by the police killing of George Floyd.
