Coronavirus testing in Santa Clara County has finally ramped up — but testing rates still lag behind the county’s self-imposed goal as several sites remain underutilized.
After low testing rates garnered criticism from local officials and community groups alike, testing has swelled dramatically over the past month thanks to new pop-up sites and a mandate for health care providers to test more widely. By the end of June, the county has completed about 880 tests per 10,000 people, up from 266 in per 10,000 in late May, according to data compiled by this news organization.
