Santa Clara County has seen a “worrisome” uptick in recent coronavirus cases and hospitalizations as more sectors of the economy have reopened — putting the county back on the state’s watch list and showing that disease transmission has likely accelerated, health officer Dr. Sara Cody said Tuesday.

“None of us want to be forced to return to a full shelter-in-place, so it’s critical we have strong protocols and risk reduction strategies firmly in place as we continue to reopen,” Cody told the county Board of Supervisors.
